The soft-cooked lentils or dal is then mixed with a sautéed mixture of spices, onions, tomatoes and herbs. Then simmered for a few minutes.

Soya Chana Dal is a popular North Indian lentil curry prepared with soya (Dill leaves chana dal (Bengal gram lentil), and a few everyday spices.It is a great recipe to make in winter season,as the Dill leaves provides the help the expulsion of gase and also reduces gas formation and chana dal provides the protein that keeps you full for longer.This healthy, easy, fuss-free lentil curry can be made in a traditional stovetop pressure cooker.

How To Serve Soya Chana Dal?

Soya chana dal can be served with,Boil Rice and the side with,Kachumber Salad (Indian Salad),pickle,and Tamarind Chutney (Imli Ki Chutney)

Ingredients

Split chickpea (Chana Dal) 1 cup

Soya leaves (Dill leaves) 1/2 bunch

Oil 1/4 cup

Ginger Garlic Paste (adrak lasan paste) 1 tsp

Onion-tomato paste 1/2 cup

Red chili flakes 1 Tsp

Coriander powder 1 Tbsp

Turmeric powder 1 Tsp

Cumin powder 1 Tsp

Salt 1 Tsp

Red chili powder 1 Tbsp

Garnish for green chili and ginger

How To Make Soya Chana Dal?

Preparation

Pick and rinse the split chickpea lentils a few times in water.Take the lentils in a cooking pot or pressure cooker.

Add 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 2 cups of water. cook on medium heat for 20 -30 minutes or until the lentils become soft and tender. Check the lentils.They should be cooked well and softened. Mash the lentils lightly with a spoon and set aside.

Making Soya Chana Dal

In a pan, heat 1/4 cup of oil.Add 1/2 cup onion-tomato paste 1 tsp of Ginger Garlic Paste (adrak lasan paste) and fry for a minute until raw smell gone.

Add the 1 tablespoon of red chili powder, 1 teaspoon of salt,1 teaspoon of cumin powder, 1 tablespoon of coriander powder,and 1 teaspoon of red chili flakes.Mix well and sauté for half a minute on low heat.

You see oil releasing from the sides of the masala.

Add cooked dal mix thoroughly.

Add 1 cup water (depending on the consistency you prefer).Stir and let the dal simmer for 5 to 10 minutes on medium heat.

Add 1/2 bunch chop soya leaves.Stir and mix very well.

Simmer the dal for 2 minutes stir often,so that the lentils do not stick to the bottom of the panTurn off the heat.
