Turkish Lokma


Today I am Making Turkish lokma, also known as fried sweet dough. Dough Balls are made from a yeast dough, then fried and soaked in a sugar syrup. These lokma are deliciously juicy, have a soft and tender inside, and crispy outside.

Lokma recipe also known as fried sweet ball, this recipe is a popular dessert throughout the Middle Eastern countries especially during the month of Ramadan.

What Is lokma?


Lokma are fried dough balls that are soaked in sugar syrup. It is one of the most famous sweet desserts of Turkey street food. lokma is crispy and outside and light inside.

Ingredients For Lokma


Lokma (Fried Sweet Dough)

For the dough

1/2 +1/4 cup all purpose flour

½ Tablespoon powder sugar

1 Teaspoon dry yeast

Warm water as required

Ghee for frying

For the syrup

1/2 cup sugar

1 cup water

How To Make lokma?


In the bowl of you mixer add all the dry ingredients and mix well.

Pour in warm water and mix. Rest for 30 minutes.

Frying

Heat the oil in a pot,Put the dough in small pieces (you can squeeze it in your hand and take it with a spoon, scrape it with two dessert spoons, put it in a piping bag cut the dough with scissors) into the hot oil and cook until they are golden.

Take them from the oil with a colander and take them out into a strainer.

Making Syrup

Take sugar,and water in a saucepan and boil over high heat until the sugar dissolves.

After the sugar melts, decrease the flame and simmer for 10 minutes.Set aside to cool down completely.

Coated the sugar Syrup

Take the dumplings out and dunk them in the sugar syrup, stir to coat.Get the dumplings out of the syrup after 2-3 minutes and place in a colander to drip excess syrup.

Serve immediately.
