What is Homemade Roti?

Roti, also known as Chapati or Phulka, is a staple in most Indian homes. This whole wheat Indian flatbread is typically enjoyed as a side with curries or lentils.

HOW TO SERVE ROTI?

Serve the roti with your favorite vegetable-recipe/ and,curry-recipes/

Ingredients Substitute

Whole Wheat flour – It is also called atta.I have use brown chakki atta.

Warm Water – Use warm water.

Salt – Adding table salt to the dough enhances the flavors.

Oil – Use any vegetable oil.

Here is the step-by-step picture.

How To Make Roti?

Take 4 cups of atta in a large bowl.

Roti (Chapati & Phulka)

Slowly start adding warm water and mix with your hand. 

Roti (Chapati & Phulka)

First mix the water with the flour, using your hand. Mix and knead into a smooth, soft dough. Continue to add a bit more water a splash at a time if required while kneading.

Add 2 tablespoons of oil.

Cover with a tight lid or a damp kitchen towel or paper towel. Set aside for at least 30 minutes to an hour.

Divide the dough into 12 equal parts, Now take around 1/4 cup atta in a plate for dusting the roti while rolling it. Dip the prepared dough ball into the dry flour and dust it from all sides.

Then start rolling the roti, using a rolling board and rolling pin.

Roll it thin until you have a 6-inch diameter circular roti.

Heat the tawa (skillet) on medium-high heat. Make sure the tawa is hot enough before you place the roti on the tawa.

Serve.
