Achar gosht is one of my favorite meals to prepare at home. The origin of the Achari Gosht is the North Punjab, and the area around the city of Hyderabad, in the Southern Indian region of Telangana. Achar gosht or chicken pickled curry is an authentic Pakistani recipe Traditionally, achar gosht is in fact a pickled chicken curry. I used chicken instead. So, this achar gosht recipe is actually made with chicken you can use, beef, and mutton.
It is a decadent and rich curry made with mutton, beef, and chicken on the bone, slow-cooked in a thick gravy. Achar gosht can be made following this authentic restaurant-style recipe.

Ingredients Required
- Chicken –I have used chicken in this recipe You can also use, mutton, or beef in this recipe.
- Ginger Garlic Paste – I have also used homemade Ginger Garlic Paste (adrak lasan paste).
- Yogurt – You’ll need around 1 cup of yogurt to add flavor and texture to this dish. It also adds richness to the gravy.
- Tomatoes – Finely chop or puree the tomatoes in your food processor.
- Green Chilies – Slit the chilies lengthwise before you use them. If you are spice averse, you can de-seed the chilies.
- Fresh Coriander – Make sure you’re chopping the fresh coriander into small pieces.
- Homemade masala: Ground coriander, cumin, Kashmiri lal mirch (for color), red chili powder, turmeric powder, nigella seeds, mustard seeds, whole spices powder, fennel powder, red chili flakes, salt.
- Oil: You will need about 1/2 cup of oil.

Homemade Achar Gosht Masala
Red chili powder 1 tbsp
Salt 1 tsp
Red chili flakes 1 tsp
Turmeric powder 1 tsp
Coriander powder 2 tbsp
Whole spices powder 1 tsp
Cumin powder 1 tsp
Fennel powder 1 tsp
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Nigella seeds 1 tsp
Making Achar gosht
In a wok, add the oil and fry the chicken until light golden brown. Add the 1 tablespoon of homemade Ginger Garlic Paste (adrak lasan paste), and saute for a few minutes.
Add the tomatoes.
Let this cook on high, stirring constantly and scraping the bottom of the wok. The tomatoes will release A LOT of moisture. Keep stirrings.
Add homemade achar ghost masala and mix well. Cover and cook for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is tender.
Then,add 1 cup of whisk yogurt.
Cook until oil is separate.
Slit green chillies from the center,remove seeds and stuffed with Chaat masala mix & and add to this curry.
Turns off the stove top.
Serve hot.

Ingredients
Homemade masala
- 1 Tbsp Red chili Powder
- 1 Tsp Red chili Flakes
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tsp Turmeric Powder
- 2 Tbsp Coriander Powder
- 1 Tbsp Cumin Powder
- 1 Tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 Tsp Nigella Seeds
- 1 Tsp Fennel Powder
- 1 Tsp Whole spices Powder
Other ingredients
- 1 Kg Chicken
- 1 Cup Yogurt
- 1/2 Cup Oil
- 8 Medium Tomatoes
- 1 Tbsp Ginger garlic Paste
- Green Chili for garnish
- Fresh ginger for garnish
Instructions
Making Achar ghost
