Moong Dal Halwa (sweet) is the most common Indian Pakistan dessert which is made in every household and sweet shop. It’s so common and average that you will hardly ever see it on the menu cards of Indian Pakistani restaurants.

How to make Moong Dal Halwa

Wash and soak moong dal in 2 cups of normal water for 3 hours. After 3 hours drain and add it to a blender jug and add 4 tbsp of milk and blend until a smooth paste.

To a heavy-based pot on low flame and, add 4 tbsps ghee, let it melt.

Add cardamom seeds and fry for a minute until the aroma comes out.

Now transfer the prepared moong dal paste.

Keep on stirring on low to medium flame. When the dal gets to a golden color you will see the ghee is absorbed into the halwa.

Add 8 tbsps of sugar and stir for 1 minute on low flame until sugar is completely dissolved.

Now add 1 cup of milk and cook until all the liquid is absorbed by the halwa.

Keep mushing with a spatula on a medium flame for 2 minutes.

Once the halwa turns thick and the ghee releases the side, add nuts and serve in a serving bowl.
