The easiest and quickest Shrimp Biryani Recipe (Prawns Biryani) recipe, that you can cook in about 40 minutes! Prawns cooked in yogurt, spices, onions, tomato-based gravy, and layered with rice, make this dish bursting with flavors and aromatic spices.

How To Make Prawns Biryani
Prepare Shrimp
Heat the 1/2 cup oil in a heavy-based pan over medium-high heat and fry the shrimp until soft.
Take out the shrimp into the plate and set it aside.
Making Gravy
Cut the two large-sized onions in half and slice thinly. Pour 1/2 cup of oil into a pot and fry the onions for 6-8 minutes over fairly high heat until softened and golden-brown, stirring frequently. Then add 1 tablespoon of garlic paste and 1 tablespoon of ginger paste and saute for 1 minute.
Then add tomato.
Saute for a little minute then add 1 tablespoon of cumin powder.
1 teaspoon of turmeric powder.
Add 1 tablespoon whole spices powder.
Then, add 2 tablespoons of coriander powder.
2 tablespoons of red chili powder.
Mix well until spices are combined.
Then add the following whole spices.
- Cinnamon Stick 2 2inches
- Green Cardamom 4
- Star anise 1
- Cloves 6
- Black peppercorns 6
- Black Cardamom 1
- Bay leaf 2
Next, add 15 slits of green chili.
Then add,4 dried plum (alu bukhara).
Cook until oil begins to separate. Next, add 1 cup of yogurt.
Mix well and cover the lid and cook for 10 minutes. Once everything is cooked, add the fried prawn into this gravy.
Turn off the heat when the gravy of this shrimp will mostly dry up. And oil is released from the gravy and Then adds chopped herbs.
Preparing rice for biryani
Take 2 cups basmati or long-grain rice, Wash the rice 4 times, Next, soak it up for at least 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, take a big vessel with its 3/4 of water, and place it on a high flame. Add salt, and 1 teaspoon of oil to it with 2 bay leaves, 2 cloves, and 2 black peppercorns. Let the water boil. When the water starts boiling then strain the soaked rice and add it to the water. Let the rice boil in water. While cooking the rice must check it frequently as rice can not be cooked more than 80 percent. Then turn off the heat and immediately drain the rice. Once the rice completely cools down then keep it aside.
Assemble Shrimp Biryani
The first layer of half-boiled rice is in the pot.
And layer the shrimp gravy over the rice.
Then end up the assembling process by Then add the remaining rice from the top to completely cover. sprinkling coriander, mint leaves, green chili, and leftover fried onion from the top.
Lastly, spread food color all over the layer. And close its lid. Use some weight or atta dough to ensure it is tightly covered.
Place the biryani vessel on the lowest heat of the stovetop. Steam (Dum), this is on the lowest flame for 10 mins. and then remove off the heat and let it rest for another 10 mins.
Then turn off the heat. Open the lid and the Shrimp biryani is ready to serve, serve it with a side dish,Mixed Vegetable Raita.

- 4 Green Cardamom
- 1 Star anise

- 6 Black peppercorns
- 1 Black Cardamom
- 2 Bay leaf
- 1 Cup Yogurt
- 1/2 Cup Coriander leaves chopped
- 1/2 Cup Mint leaves chopped
Rice Ingredients
- 2 Cups Long Grain Basmati Rice
- 1 Tbsp Salt
- 2 bay leaves
- 2 Cloves
- 2 Black peppercorns

- 1/4 Tsp Yellow Food Color Dissolved in milk
