Fish Curry Recipe

Learn to make a quick fish curry recipe with step-by-step points. Fish is popular all around the world. This is a grandmother-style dish enjoying it in the comfort of your home on a weekend. It takes just 45 minutes to make this recipe on the stovetop with a little marination preparation.

How To Make IT

There are two parts to this recipe.

Preparation

Clean and wash the fish pieces thoroughly under running water. Drain the water completely.

Marination

Take a mixing bowl, add 1 cup of yogurt whisk well until without any lumps. And then add ginger, garlic paste and mix well.

Add 2 tablespoon coriander powder,1 1/2 tablespoon cumin powder,1 teaspoon salt,1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder,1/2 teaspoon Ajwain powder (Carom ),1/2 teaspoon Kalonji powder (Nigella ),2 tablespoons red chili powder mix all of them.

Mix and fold the fish piece to coat in the marinade. Cover the fish and let it sit in the fridge for 30 minutes.

Preparing Curry

While the fish is marinating. Put a cooking pan on the stovetop at medium heat and add 1/2 cooking oil. Temper with 1 teaspoon cumin seeds,1 teaspoon methi dana (Fenugreek),1 teaspoon Black mustard seeds,1 teaspoon kalonji,2 curry leaves.

When the tempering is done. Reduce the heat to low and add onion paste saute the onion paste in the temper for a minute to get the raw smell gone.

Once the onion turns light golden, go ahead and add the marinated fish.

Cook on medium flame until color changes to fish and masala.

When the color has changed now add 1/2 cup water if required and mix.

Cook for 10 minutes on medium flame until the gravy is thick and fish cooked. Once the oil comes up top of the gravy. Turn off the heat. Serve with Boil Rice.
