Aloo Raita is a yogurt-base side dish serve with thick curry-like Hyderabadi Talawa Gosht. Raita can be made in any season. These are the ingredients used to make raita, Yogurt is the main ingredient, cucumber, onion, tomatoes, boiled potatoes, and herbs.

  • Yogurt
  • Potatoes
  • Tomatoes
  • Cucumber
  • Onion
  • Green chili is optional
  • Tempering-cumin seeds, nigella seed, whole red chili, Curry leaf, poppy seeds

Step-by-Step Instruction

Wash the potatoes and add enough water into a pot and put it on the stove then add 1 teaspoon salt in it and then add potatoes in it and cook on the low-to-medium flame until potatoes are tender.

Drain the water immediately and when the potato is cool, peel the skin of the potato and cut them into small cubes, and set them aside.

Wash and peel the skin of cucumber and deseed and chop to small cubes.

Wash the tomatoes and cut them into cubes.

Peel the onion and cut it into small cubes.

In a serving bowl and add yogurt, salt to it and whisk them until smooth.

Next add the potatoes, cucumber, tomato, and onion and mix well.

In a frying pan, add oil, whole red chili, cumin seeds, nigella seeds, poppy seeds, and curry leaf and fry for a few minutes. Now transfer the tadka to the aloo raita.
