Black pepper chicken (Kali Mirchi Chicken Karahi) is my favorite meal.This recipe comes from my mom, who is an amazing home cook. I love this dish every time she asks "what should I cook for lunch? I always say black pepper chicken.

Marinated Ingredients
- 500 Gram Chicken
- 1/2 Tsp Cumin powder
- 100 Gram Yogurt
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tsp Black pepper powder
- 1/2 Tsp Whole spices powder
- 1 Tbsp Lemon juice
Gravy Ingredients
- 2 Medium Onion
- 2 Cloves Garlic
- 1 Piece Ginger
- 15 Cashew nut
- 2 Green chili
Other Ingredients
- 1/4 Cup Cooking oil
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 4 Black pepper corn
- 4 Green cardamom pods
- 1 Tbsp Fenugreek Leaves
- Coriander leaves
Marinated The Chicken
Marinate the chicken with yogurt,black pepper powder, lime juice,cumin powder ,whole spices powder and salt, then cover and place it in the refrigerator for half an hour.
Gravy Paste
Heat the oil in a pan. Sauté the onions, ginger, and garlic, green chili,cashew nut for around 5 minutes after adding them. Transfer the mixture to a grinder, and blend until it becomes a smooth paste.
Cook The Chicken
Heat some oil in a skillet and add, cloves, cinnamon sticks, black pepper seeds,and green cardamom pods fry until aromo.
Add the marinated chicken and cook for 5-6 minutes, until the chicken is slightly browned and the raw smell is gone. Stir frequently while cooking.
Add paste mix well until oil release from the side.
Now add 1 cup of water and mix well.Reduce the heat to low.Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 40-45 minutes, until the chicken is cooked well and oil separate from the side.
Now add Kasuri methi, coriander cook for 4-5 minutes stirring frequently.Check for salt and add more if needed.Serve
